The Tecate Community Museum is part of the Cultural Center of Tecate (CECUTEC). The museum celebrates the history and culture of Baja’s Kumiai people. Tecate was once the center of the Kumiaipeople’s territory, many of whom live north and south of the border.
There you can see Kumeyaay artifacts as well as Indian photographs linked to the Baja region that were take by E H Davis. Members of the Kumiai people are on hand to discuss and interpret the exhibits. A gift shop sells handicrafts made according to fair trade practices.
Also part of CECUTEC is the Cuchuma Library which has more than 2,000 specialized materials on history and culture of Baja California.
